Church “growth” or mere “expansion”?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Check this out to read an excellent example of what happens when church expansion (numbers) replaces church growth (edification of the saints that the saints may do the work of the ministry).

Do We Have Free Will?

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Andy Naselli (PhD – BJU; working on 2nd PhD at Trinity) has written a very helpful article on “free will”. The Sum and Substance of all Theology

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-92) was England’s best-known preacher for most of the second half of the nineteenth century. In 1854, just four years after his conversion, Spurgeon, then only 20, became pastor of London’s famed New Park Street Church (formerly pastored by the famous Baptist theologian John Gill). The congregation quickly outgrew their building, moved to Exeter Hall, then to Surrey Music Hall. In these venues Spurgeon frequently preached to audiences numbering more than 10,000—all in the days before electronic amplification. In 1861 the congregation moved permanently to the newly constructed Metropolitan Tabernacle (now pastored by Peter Masters).

Here is an sermon preach by the “Prince of Preachers” on the text found in John 6:37.

"The Orthodox Are Finished"

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

The recent decision by the Episcopal Church in the USA ending its moratorium on the election and consecration of openly gay bishops is unmistakable evidence that all the talk of “dialogue” by the radical left is often hollow rhetoric. This is a clash of worldviews, one Biblical the other largely secular, whereby “right” agendas are “courageously” followed regardless of the consequences. The clash is theological at its core.
